About Us Muddy Paws Kennel, located in the bootheel of Missouri, was started in 1996 by husband & wife team, Keith & Michelle Lawson.
"Timber" and "Cali"
Like his father Blypark Anter, Otter Sloughs Fetchin Timber, is a yellow English Labrador retriever with excellent conformation. Timber has distinguished himself as a superior hunter in the field, and is steady to shot. In the blind, Timber is an all business and intense gundog with a definate gift for scenting the bird. Timbers retrieving skills are a pleasure to experience and he is blessed with soft mouth. He has a wonderful disposition and his desire to please makes him not only a good hunting companion, but a wonderful family dog. Cali (Otter Sloughs Calico Girl) is a beautiful jet black british labrador retriever. She is a fairly new addtion to the kennel, but she has already captured the hearts of all the family. She too is blessed with an excellent nose, and is from fine hunting stock. Both dogs have a very distinguished pedigree and we are looking forward to the next litter of pups from these two. During Cali's first litter the spring of 2007, she produced absolutely adorable fox red, yellow and black pups. Our puppies generally sell extremely fast sometimes before they are born. British Labrador Retrievers are a less known, smaller version of the standard Labrador. The "birdie", British Labs are consistently easier to train and handle since the disagreable behavioral and other problems are bred out.
Keith Lawson has been training bird "hunting" dogs since 1978, in the vast flyways of southeast Missouri. I have always had a lab in training for someone, and have made many lifetime hunting buddies with our dogs. We began the association with British labs after experiencing a training demonstration. We began researching the breed and was hooked after training our first British lab. Keith studied the British Training methods and applies these methods on his current training.
Missouri Muddy Paws Kennel is located outside Sikeston, MO on a 3 acre training facility with a private 1 acre pond. We are currently adding new covered kennels with a whelping house to the current facility. We live on site but also train on famous Missouri Conservation Department waterfowl refuge areas; Otter slough, and Ten Mile Pond, both located near our home. Keith and Michelle Lawson are passionately devoted trainers and have dedicated themselves into providing the highest quality British Labradors. We offer top notch obedience, and retriever training. If you are looking for a top notch retriever that has a great personality, trainability, obedience, desire, and ease of handling, then we ask you to come and take a look at our dogs. We stand behind our dogs 100% and can customize the training to however you want your dog to perform. Missouri Muddy Paws Kennel will always allow their own pup's top priority on openings for training, but if you already have a young dog that you would like for us to train, we would be glad for you to contact us on openings. We limit the amount of dogs at one time which allows for a higher quality of training.
| Socialization and discipline are just a couple of our gentlemans gundogs best assests. It begins at a very early age with our intense breed of beautuful prestigeous waterfowl hunting pups. Like all the distinguished dams and sires before our handpicked breeding mates, hunting and retrieving training are an extremely easy part of training. A calm demeaner is bred into our dogs from some of the finest bloodlines of prior generations from England, Ireland and the United states. Control is the key to an enjoyable hunting experience, and these bad boys of the field, blind, and boat naturally have it. We at Missouri Muddy Paws Kennel just bring it out in them.
 All of our puppies are treated like the closest of family members. We do not raise typical "labrador retrievers". We are selective who our pups go to. Our goal is not just to put out the finest in quality of pure bred English Labs, but also to match them to a loving family. Understanding how the canine thinks, alot of praise, encouragement, and a continual confidence building training experience are our training tools and produce pups that are eager to please their people.
